Nadine Cohodas, biographer of Nina Simone, will discuss the Tryon-born singer, pianist and civil rights movement figure, in a lecture at 12:30 p.m. Thursday, March 29 in UNC Asheville’s Highsmith University Union, Mountain Suites. The lecture is free and open to the public.
UNC Asheville and Asheville Area Chamber Host "Thank You Asheville" Rally March 27

UNC Asheville and the Asheville Area Chamber of Commerce will host a "Way to Go, Asheville" Rally on Tuesday, March 27, to thank the fans, volunteers and sponsors of the recent Southern Conference and Big South basketball tournaments. The hour-long event, which is free and open to the public, begins at 4:30 p.m. in the Mountain View Room of the Sherrill Center on the UNC Asheville campus.

UNC Asheville to Host Regional Science Olympiad Tournament

Young scientists from 11 middle schools and eight high schools in Western North Carolina will test their talents in the Regional Science Olympiad Tournament at UNC Asheville Saturday, March 17. The competition will be held from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at various locations across campus.
UNC Asheville's Athletics Program Recertified by NCAA

UNC Asheville administrators have received official notification from the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) confirming the recertification of the university's athletic program. UNC Asheville was last recertified in 2002.
Next UNC Asheville Open House Set for March 24

UNC Asheville's Admissions Office will host an open house for high school and transfer students and their families from 8:30 a.m. to 1:15 p.m. Saturday, March 24, on campus. Those attending will have the opportunity to meet faculty and staff from all academic areas, and representatives of a wide range of campus organizations. The open house also includes student-led campus tours and sessions for parents and students on admissions, academics, extracurricular programs, scholarships and other financial aid.
