UNC Asheville Named One of the Nation’s 50 “Best Value” Public Colleges by Princeton Review

Despite the current economy, there are still great values to be found in higher education, according to the “2011 Best Value Colleges” ranking released today, February 22, 2011, from the Princeton Review. For the fifth year in a row, UNC Asheville was selected as one of the 50 best value public colleges in the country.
February 28 Open House for New Asheville Branch of UNC Eshelman School of Pharmacy

The UNC Eshelman School of Pharmacy will hold an open house and information session from 5:30-7:30 p.m. Monday, Feb. 28, at UNC Asheville's Highsmith University Union, Alumni Hall. The open house is for high school students, college students, and college graduates interested in applying to the doctor of pharmacy (PharmD) program that will be located in Asheville.
UNC Asheville Celebrates Homecoming February 23-26

UNC Asheville will hold its Homecoming 2011 celebration from February 23-26. Special events range from the annual homecoming parade and basketball games to a step show and tailgate party. A number of activities are open to the public.

A local couple has made a lasting gift to the new Wilma M. Sherrill Center at UNC Asheville - - more than 800 tons of stone used in the construction of the center, which houses the N.C. Center for Heath & Wellness and Kimmel Arena.
UNC Asheville Celebrates December Commencement

More than 2,000 family and friends gathered on Saturday morning to celebrate UNC Asheville's newest graduates. Some 207 students were honored during UNC Asheville's third annual December Commencement Ceremony, which was held at the Thomas Wolfe Auditorium.
UNC Asheville to Close for Winter Break; Basketball Brings Life to Campus During Break

UNC Asheville will be closed for winter break December 18 through January 2, 2011. Some offices will be open on a limited basis December 20-22 and 29-30.
During winter break, the UNC Asheville men's basketball team will bring life to campus with three home games at the Justice Center. The Bulldogs take on Western Carolina University at 7 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 28; VMI at 2 p.m. Friday, Dec. 31; and Liberty University at 2 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 2. UNC Asheville to conduct routine test of emergency notification system December 15

UNC Asheville's Department of Public Safety will conduct a test of its emergency notification system, including the campus Outdoor Emergency Siren, between 11 a.m. and noon Wednesday, Dec. 15. This is a routine test in accordance with the University’s emergency notification maintenance and testing protocols.
UNC Asheville to Hold December Commencement Ceremony

UNC Asheville will hold its December Commencement Ceremony at 10 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 18, at the Thomas Wolfe Auditorium, located in the Asheville Civic Center. Some 207 students are candidates for bachelor's and Master of Liberal Arts degrees. A reception for graduates and their families will be held in the Civic Center lobby immediately following the ceremony. No tickets are required.
