UNC Asheville to Hold Live Emergency Response Training Exercise May 21

As part of UNC Asheville's efforts to enhance campus safety, the university will be joined by a number of community agencies for a live emergency response training exercise on campus on Friday, May 21. The training exercise will be conducted by EnviroSafe Consulting and Investigations Inc., a firm hired by University of North Carolina General Administration to conduct training and simulations at each of the 17 UNC system campuses.
UNC Asheville Celebrates 82nd Annual Commencement

More than 4,500 family and friends gathered on UNC Asheville's Quadrangle Saturday morning to celebrate UNC Asheville's 2010 graduating class. Some 677 students were honored during the 82nd Commencement Ceremony, including 436 spring graduates, 34 summer graduates and 207 winter graduates, who were snowed out of their ceremony in December.

UNC Asheville Chancellor Anne Ponder will confer honorary degrees on noted Civil Rights leader and Freedom Singer Bernice Johnson Reagon and legendary UNC-Chapel Hill Coaches Dean Smith and Roy Williams at the university's spring commencement. Lucien "Skip" Capone III has been named as university counsel at UNC Asheville. Capone currently serves as university counsel at the University of North Carolina at Greensboro, a position he has held since 1991. His appointment, following a national search, was approved by the UNC Asheville Board of Trustees on March 26. He will start his new position on April 15.UNC Asheville Open House Set for April 3

UNC Asheville's Admissions Office will host an open house for high school and transfer students and their families from 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Saturday, April 3.
