UNC Asheville Holds Eighth Annual Multimedia Arts and Sciences Juried Student Exhibition

UNC Asheville's Eighth Annual Multimedia Arts and Sciences Juried Student Exhibition will be on view April 10-21 at UNC Asheville's Highsmith University Union Gallery. An opening reception will be held 3-6 p.m. Friday, April 10, in the gallery. The exhibition is free and open to the public.

UNC Asheville Hosts Talk by Exonerated Death Row Inmate Glen Edward Chapman

Glen Edward Chapman, an innocent man recently released from North Carolina’s death row, will speak at 12:15 p.m. Thursday, April 2, at UNC Asheville’s Humanities Lecture Hall. He will be joined by UNC Asheville Psychology Department Chair Pamela Laughon who served as a mitigation specialist on his case. The free talk is sponsored by UNC Asheville’s Psychology Department.

UNC Asheville Students Take Alternate Spring Break, Use Week to Volunteer

Instead of hitting the beach this spring break, more than 55 UNC Asheville students will fan out across the south March 7-15 to participate in four different volunteer opportunities from Asheville to Mississippi. Each year, the University offers students a number of alternate spring break options to use the week away from classes to help make the world a better place.

TheatreUNCA to Stage Chekhov Plays "The Bear" and "The Proposal"

TheatreUNCA will stage two short one-act Anton Chekhov comedies, "The Bear" and "The Proposal," from February 25 to March 1 at UNC Asheville's Carol Belk Theatre. Curtain is 8 p.m. Wednesday-Saturday with a 2 p.m. Sunday matinee. Each play will run approximately 30 minutes. All shows are open to the public.

UNC Asheville Wins Big South Conference Quiz Bowl Tournament

Five UNC Asheville students donned their thinking caps and walked away champions of the Fourth Annual Big South Conference Quiz Bowl on February 7. The UNC Asheville players faced six Big South Conference challengers at Gardner-Webb University in tournament play, beating three-time reigning champions Liberty University. Team members include seniors David Coates and Robert Meehan; juniors Joseph Blair and Jennifer Guilford; and sophomore Josh Siary.
