One Leg Up Plays UNC Asheville's Concerts on the Quad

UNC Asheville's 28th annual Concerts on the Quad summer music series continues with a performance by the five-piece Gypsy jazz band One Leg Up at 7 p.m. Monday, July 12, on the Quad. The band features John Steinman on guitar and vocals; Jim Tanner on guitar; Mike Guzalak on clarinet, sax and vocals; Zak Page on bass; and Steve Trismen on violin and vocals. The event is free and open to the public.

April Verch Plays UNC Asheville's Concerts on the Quad

UNC Asheville's 28th annual Concerts on the Quad summer music series continues with a performance by renowned Canadian fiddler April Verch at 7 p.m. Monday, July 5, on the Quad. Verch will play with band mates Clay Ross on guitar and Cody Walters on upright-electric bass and banjo. The event is free and open to the public.

UNC Asheville Offers Substitute Teacher Course

Registration is now open for Effective Teacher Training, a required course for teaching and substituting in some North Carolina public school systems, including Buncombe County and Asheville public schools. The course, offered by UNC Asheville's Professional Education Program, will be held on the UNC Asheville campus.

Registration is now open for a Graduate Record Examination (GRE) prep course offered by UNC Asheville's Professional Education Program. Classes will meet on UNC Asheville's campus beginning July 13.

UNC Asheville Kicks Off 28th Annual Concerts on the Quad Summer Music Series

Music lovers of all ages will enjoy free concerts at UNC Asheville’s 28th annual Concerts on the Quad summer music series. Concerts get under way at 7 p.m. each Monday evening June 14-July 21 on UNC Asheville’s Quad. The series will conclude with special, ticketed performances of the Folkmoot USA Festival on July 24-25.

Thespian Insurrection Productions Debuts with "Line" and "Cinderhood" May 27-30

Thespian Insurrection Productions, a newly formed summer stock company founded by current UNC Asheville drama students and alumni, will stage the Off-Broadway play “Line” May 28-30 and a children’s themed show “Cinderhood” May 27, 29 and 30 at UNC Asheville’s Carol Belk Theatre.

RENCI at UNC Asheville Hosts Public Open House on June 4

The Renaissance Computing Institute (RENCI) at UNC Asheville will hold a drop-in open house from 3:30-5 p.m. Friday, June 4, at the RENCI at UNC Asheville Engagement Site, located in the Grove Arcade in downtown Asheville. The event is free and open to the public.

Four Workshops Offered at N.C. Center for Creative Retirement

The North Carolina Center for Creative Retirement (NCCCR) will offer a series of hands-on summer workshops. The courses, which are open to students of all ages and skills, will take place in June and July at UNC Asheville's Reuter Center.
