UNC Asheville's National Juried Drawing Exhibition Opens January 13

UNC Asheville's Art Department will open "Drawing Discourse," the university's third annual national juried drawing exhibition, with a lecture by juror Jerome Witkin at 5 p.m. Friday, Jan. 13, in Lipinsky Auditorium on campus. An opening reception will follow from 6-8 p.m. in the S. Tucker Cooke Gallery in Owen Hall. These events are free and open to the public.

UNC Asheville's Great Smokies Writing Program Announces Spring Workshops

Some of the area’s best authors and instructors are featured in the new spring lineup of workshops from UNC Asheville's Great Smokies Writing Program (GSWP), which includes courses located in Asheville, Hendersonville, Black Mountain and Burnsville.

“Absence as Presence,” Photography Exhibit by Gabriela Knox Opens at UNC Asheville

“Absence as Presence,” a new exhibition of black-and-white photographs by UNC Asheville senior Gabriela Knox, is on display through December 17 at the Highsmith University Union Gallery on campus. This BFA senior exhibition is free and open to the public.

“Reflections on Lunations,” New Exhibit by Rebecca vonSeldeneck-Houser to Open at UNC Asheville

A new exhibition, combining light, glass, metal, ceramic slip, ivory chiffon and performance art, will open December 9 in the S. Tucker Cooke Gallery in UNC Asheville’s Owen Hall. “Reflections on Lunations / An Allegorical Exploration into Ancient Calendation” is the BFA Senior Exhibition by Rebecca vonSeldeneck-Houser. An opening reception will take place from 6-8 p.m. in the gallery. Both the reception and the exhibit are free and open to the public.

UNC Asheville to Hold Annual Ceramic and Art Sale

UNC Asheville’s Art Department will hold its annual holiday sale of ceramics and art from 4-7 p.m. Friday, Dec. 2 and 10 a.m.-2 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 3 in the S. Tucker Cooke Gallery in Owen Hall. The sale is open to the public.

“Perspectives”- Theatre UNCA Presents Festival of Short, Student-Directed Plays

Theatre UNCA will present “Perspectives,” a festival of six short plays, directed and performed by UNC Asheville students. The festival is free and open to the public, from Dec. 2-5 in various campus locations.

“Symbiosis” – Exhibit of Digital Video Art Thursday Evening at UNC Asheville

“Symbiosis,” a site-specific exhibition featuring works in digital video art by UNC Asheville students, will take place from 7-10 p.m. on Thursday, Nov. 10, on the UNC Asheville campus, in and around Zeis Hall.

“A Chat over Coffee” - Exhibition of Paintings Explores Cyber Café Dynamics

A new exhibition of paintings by UNC Asheville senior Katherine Knutsen examines the impact of wifi on coffee house atmosphere. “A Chat over Coffee,” Knutsen’s BFA Painting Senior Exhibition, opens with a reception from 6-8 p.m. Friday, Nov. 11 in the university’s S. Tucker Cooke Gallery, in Owen Hall, first floor.

Center for Craft, Creativity & Design Announces November Textile Events

Hendersonville, NC –The Center for Craft, Creativity & Design (CCCD), a center of UNC Asheville, is pleased to announce a series of events taking place in conjunction with the current exhibition, “Common Threads: Innovative Textile Practices in India & Western North Carolina.”
