New Textile Art Exhibition to Open at UNC Asheville

"I Carry You with Me," a new exhibit of garments by UNC Asheville senior art major Molly Martin, will open with a reception with the artist from 6-8 p.m. Friday, May 4, in the Owen Hall second floor gallery on campus.

In this culminating exhibition, Martin incorporates experiments with dye, screen-printing and sewing, and has created new garments from recycled textiles. "This body of work has been a process in self identification through dress," says Martin, who asks "How does creating and wearing these garments tell the stories of women in a family through time?"

"I Carry You with Me" is on view through May 15. Gallery hours are weekdays from 9 a.m.-6 p.m. The exhibit and opening reception are free and open to the public. For more information call 828.251.6559 or visit the Department of Art website.
