Women’s Rights Activist Selma James to Speak at UNC Asheville

Selma JamesSelma James, founder of the International Wages for Housework Campaign, will speak at 12:30 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 8 in UNC Asheville's Karpen Hall, Room 243. The event is free and open to the public.

James, now 81 years old, has been a women's rights activist since the early 1950's. She founded the International Wages for Housework Campaign, and later, the Global Women's Strike, which she still leads. James is the author of "Sex, Race and Class — The Perspective of Winning: A Selection of Writings 1952-2011"(PM Press, 2012), a collection of her speeches and pamphlets.
