Multimedia Arts and Sciences 10th Annual Juried Student Exhibition Opens April 8

MMAS exhibit posterUNC Asheville's Multimedia Arts and Sciences Program will host its 10th annual juried student exhibition featuring innovative new media work by UNC Asheville students, April 8-15 in the university's Highsmith Gallery. An opening reception is scheduled from 3-6 p.m. Friday, April 8.

The student work in 2D and 3D Animation Art, Interactive Art and Design, Video Art, Stop Motion, Sonic Art, Installation, and Digital Prints, expresses ideas in communication, information technology, science, architecture, literature, music and personal expression.

Eric and Susan Goldberg, from Disney Studio, are the jurors for the exhibition. Eric Goldberg is an award-winning director and animator whose credits include Disney’s “Aladdin,” supervising the animation of Louis the Alligator in “The Princess and the Frog,” and co-directing Disney’s animated feature film “Pocahontas.” Susan Goldberg is an award-winning animation art director. Known for her expertise in the use of color, Susan’s credits include the “Rhapsody in Blue” and “Carnival of the Animals” segments from Disney’s “Fantasia 2000.” She is also the author and illustrator of several children’s books.

The opening and the exhibit are free and open to the public. Highsmith Gallery is located in Highsmith University Union on the UNC Asheville campus. Gallery hours are 9 a.m.-9 p.m. weekdays, and noon-6 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday.
