Disney Animation Legends Eric and Susan Goldberg to Appear at UNC Asheville

Disney legends Eric and Susan Goldberg will spend the week of March 28, 2011 at UNC Asheville conducting workshops with students in the Multimedia Arts and Sciences (MMAS) program. The Goldbergs will also serve as co-jurors for this year’s MMAS Student Show.

The highlight of the week will be “Animated Discussions: An Evening with Eric and Susan Goldberg,” a retrospective look at the Goldberg’s achievements in the world of animated films and design. The program is open to the general public as well as students and will feature a question and answer session with the audience. The program will take place on the UNC Asheville campus in Lipinksy Auditorium on Wednesday, March 30, 2011, starting at 6:30 p.m. Admission is free.

Eric GoldbergEric Goldberg is an award-winning director and animator whose credits include creating and animating the zany Genie (voiced by Robin Williams) from Disney’s Aladdin, supervising the animation of Louis the Alligator in The Princess and the Frog, and co-directing Disney’s animated enormously successful feature film Pocahontas. Eric is also the author of Character Animation Crash Course, a popular step-by-step book about classic techniques used to create convincing and compelling characters in animation.

Susan Goldberg is an award-winning animation art director and designer whose work has graced numerous feature films and theme park attractions. Known for her expertise in the use of color, Susan’s credits include the “Rhapsody in Blue” and “Carnival of the Animals” segments from Disney’s Fantasia 2000. She is also the author and illustrator of several children’s books. Susan is currently working on a variety of film, video and concept art projects.
