Exhibit of paintings by Pat Calderone to open at UNC Asheville’s Blowers Gallery
September 23, 2010
UNC Asheville’s Blowers Gallery will exhibit paintings by Pat Calderone during the month of October. A meet-the-artist reception will be held from 4 - 6 p.m., Friday, Oct. 1, in the Blowers Gallery on the ground floor of the Ramsey Library at UNC Asheville. The show, “Dance of the Spirit,” features works in acrylics and charcoal on canvas.
Calderone, who studied art at the Minneapolis College of Art and Design, lives near Rabun Bald, the second highest mountain in Georgia. She says her work is inspired by the Cherokee people and animals that used to inhabit that land. Calderone has exhibited at Summit One gallery in Highlands, the Globe Gallery in Clayton, Ga., and the Blue Eyed Buffalo gallery in Dillard, Ga.
“Dance of the Spirit” is on view through October 30. Blowers Gallery hours are: 8 a.m. - midnight, Monday - Thursday; 8 a.m. - 6 p.m. Fridays; 10 a.m. - 6 p.m. Saturdays; and 1 p.m. - midnight Sundays. Blowers Gallery exhibits are free and open to the public. For more information, call 828.251.6436, or go here.
