N.C. Center for Creative Retirement Hosts Talk on Dante's "Divine Comedy"

The North Carolina Center for Creative Retirement at UNC Asheville will host a talk on "Lost in Transition, or Dante Goes to Hell" from 11:30 a.m.-1:30 p.m. Tuesday, July 20. The talk, presented by Dante scholar Richard Lansing, will be held in the Reuter Center, room 206. It is free and open to the public.
In his talk, Lansing will examine what readers can gain from reading the "Divine Comedy." He will discuss the main character, Dante, and what makes his experience in the poem so universal in scope.
Lansing is a professor of Italian studies and comparative literature at Brandeis University. He holds a doctorate from the University of California Berkeley and his published a number of scholarly articles on Dante. He is currently the editor of "Dante Studies," the journal of the Dante Society of America.
