UNC Asheville Career Center Hosts Foreign Service Officer Information Session

Interested in a career with the U.S. Foreign Services? Curious about how to get started? Diplomat in Residence Steve Kelly will shed some light on these and other questions at 3 p.m. Wednesday, May 19, in UNC Asheville Highsmith University Union, room 221. The free event, hosted by UNC Asheville's Career Center, is a lead up to the June Foreign Service Officer test.
Kelly is a senior Foreign Service officer assigned to Duke University as the U.S. State Department Diplomat in Residence. His primary role is to seek out those interested in careers formulating and implementing U.S. foreign policy. Kelly is also a lecturer at Duke University on North American issues, with a special focus on energy, trade, the environment and continental security. He has served as director of the Senior Level Assignments Division at the State Department., as well as deputy chief of mission for the U.S. missions to Mexico and Canada. He has also served in the Netherlands, Belgium and Mali.
