UNC Asheville Department of Atmospheric Sciences to Host Severe Weather Workshop

Registration is now open for a severe weather workshop hosted by UNC Asheville's Atmospheric Sciences Department. The workshop will be held from 8 a.m.-5:30 p.m. Saturday, April 17, in UNC Asheville’s Robinson Hall, room 125. Presented in cooperation with the National Weather Service Office in Greenville-Spartanburg, S.C., this event will offer scientific presentations to promote awareness, understanding and preparedness for severe weather. The workshop is open to the public, and no prior knowledge of meteorology is required. Cost is $15.

Professional meteorologists and experts on severe weather will provide information about theoretical, operational and observational aspects of severe weather at the workshop. Participants will have the opportunity to ask questions and interact with presenters and local meteorologists.

To register, send a completed registration form and a check payable to “UNC Asheville ATMS” to Linda Strother, RBH 215, ATMS, UNC Asheville, One University Heights, Asheville, NC 28804. The registration form can be downloaded at http://facstaff.unca.edu/ahuang/workshop. Registration deadline has been extended to March 30.
