Music Department Continues Spring Concert Season with Two Shows in February

UNC Asheville's Music Department will continue its spring concert season with two shows in February. Both will be held in UNC Asheville's Lipinsky Auditorium. Admission is $5 at the door.

The University Big Band, directed by David Wilken, and the Studio 18 vocal jazz ensemble, directed by Melodie Galloway, will present a joint concert at 4 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 21. The Big Band will perform works by Woody Herman, Jerome Kern and Wilken. The vocal group will present a variety of solo and group numbers by composers Duke Ellington, Paul Simon and Deke Sharon.

The University Wind Ensemble, also conducted by Wilken, will hold a concert at 4 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 28. The group will perform works by Johann DeMeij, Robert Jager and others.
