UNC Asheville Offers Distance Learning Courses for Lateral Entry Teachers

Registration is open at UNC Asheville for a distance learning course for working teachers seeking lateral entry licensure. Teleconference sites include UNC Asheville and Blue Ridge Community College. Other sites can be arranged for five or more participants.

"EDU 373: Teaching Reading in the Content Area," is a three-credit hour course that will be offered as a combination of online and teleconferencing sessions. Classes will be held from 5:30-9 p.m. Tuesdays, Oct. 19-Dec. 7. Teleconferencing sessions will meet on October 19 and 26, November 30 and December 7. This course combines strategies for teaching reading and writing. Participation will involve sharing strategies, research topics and reflections on how to integrate skills in the classroom.

Cost for North Carolina residents is $295.59 plus a one-time non-refundable $20 registration fee. Registration deadline is October 11.
