Great Smokies Writing Program Launches Online Publication

UNC Asheville’s Great Smokies Writing Program has launched a new online literary magazine, “The Great Smokies Review.” The magazine offers former and current students of the Great Smokies Writing Program an opportunity to share not only their creative work, but their writing experiences and expertise, as well.

“As the Great Smokies Writing Program approaches ten years of bringing quality writing workshops to the Western North Carolina community, it is only fitting that we offer a place to highlight some of the wonderful work produced by its students,” said Tommy Hays, executive director of the program.

The first edition of “The Great Smokies Review” includes fiction and nonfiction stories, poetry, novel excerpts, interviews and essays on writing craft. The variety of work reflects the diverse writing backgrounds of the students, who range from first time writers to published authors.

Author and Great Smokies Writing Program faculty member Elizabeth Lutyens serves as editor of the review, which will be released online twice a year in the fall and spring.

“The Great Smokies Review” can be viewed at www.thegreatsmokiesreview.org. For more information, contact the Great Smokies Writing Program at 828/232-5122.
