The UNC Asheville Board of Trustees will meet from 9 a.m.-5 p.m. Friday, March 23, in the Ramsey Library, Red Oak Room, on campus.
The meeting is open to the public. Portions of the meetings may be closed to the public under the provisions of the North Carolina Open Meetings Act.
The UNC Asheville Board of Trustees is composed of 13 members; eight are appointed by the UNC Board of Governors and four are appointed by the governor. The UNC Asheville Student Government Association president, who is elected by the student body, is also a voting member of the board.

In conjunction with a statewide tornado drill, UNC Asheville will conduct an intermittent, full-volume test of its emergency siren system between 9:30 and 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, March 7, 2012. The campus community as well as neighborhoods adjacent to campus may hear intermittent warning tones and spoken announcements. The test is to assess the volume, reach and clarity of the system.

UNC Asheville, the Big South Conference and the Southern Conference have come to an agreement that will allow the Bulldog men's basketball team to play the BSC championship game in Kimmel Arena on the UNC Asheville campus at noon, Saturday, March 3, should they earn that opportunity. The Bulldogs would host the title game if they are the highest remaining seed.

UNC Asheville's North Carolina Center for Creative Retirement (NCCCR) will be awarded a $2 million endowment from the Bernard Osher Foundation, with the first half of the endowment expected to be awarded in summer 2012, according to Catherine Frank, NCCCR executive director. This follows a $100,000 grant award from the foundation in June, 2011.

Some 2,000 family and friends gathered in UNC Asheville’s new Kimmel Arena on Saturday, Dec. 17, to celebrate the university’s newest graduates. Included among the 222 who earned diplomas in December are 10 graduates of UNC Asheville’s growing Master of Liberal Arts program.

The UNC Asheville Foundation and TD Bank have signed a contract for the sale of land adjacent to the university that was formerly owned by the Health Adventure. The 8.9-acre property is located at the intersection of Broadway and Catawba streets.
The Health Adventure, a children's science museum, had planned to build a $25 million museum on the Broadway property. The organization broke ground for the project in 2008, but was unable to complete it and filed for bankruptcy in March 2011. TD Bank bought the property in a foreclosure auction in October.
