society in a public lecture at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 16 in the Kimmel Arena at UNC Asheville's Sherrill Center. The event is free and open to the public.

Registration is now open for the Graduate Record Examination (GRE) prep classes offered by the Asheville Graduate Center. Classes will meet on the UNC Asheville campus beginning September 9.
The GRE Prep course will meet from 6-8:30 p.m. on Mondays and Wednesdays for four consecutive weeks, September 9-October 2. After the class officially ends at 8:30 p.m., the instructors stay another 30 minutes to help individual students with problem areas and to give practice test items to those who want extra coaching and assistance.

The Board of Trustees of the University of North Carolina at Asheville will hold a special meeting at 3 p.m. on Monday, July 29, 2013 in the Highsmith University Union, room 235, on the UNC Asheville campus. The purpose of the meeting is to review in closed session the job performance of an employee.
This action is subject to North Carolina’s Open Meetings Act. Certain agenda items may be considered in closed session, consistent with provisions of the Act.

"Urban Photography from the Streets of a Bohemian Mountain Town," an exhibit of both color and black-and-white photographs by local artist Joe Longobardi, will be on view August 16-September 27, in UNC Asheville's Ramsey Library. An opening reception will be held at 11:30 a.m. on Tuesday, August 27 in the Blowers Gallery.

Registration is now open for the Law School Admissions Test (LSAT) prep classes offered beginning in August by the Asheville Graduate Center. Classes will meet on the UNC Asheville campus.
The LSAT prep course will meet on Wednesday evenings from 6-8:30 p.m. for six consecutive weeks, beginning August 28. Students will learn test-taking strategies and work with test-simulation exercises on analytical reasoning, logical reasoning, reading comprehension and writing samples.

UNC Asheville’s Human Resources welcomed Nicole Norian as the department’s new director on June 14.
Norian brings more than 25 years of senior human resources experience in both public and private higher education, as well as county government settings. She most recently served as director of human resources and affirmative action officer at Nevada State College.

UNC Asheville has earned two national awards presented by the Council for Advancement and Support of Education (CASE), an international professional association for colleges and universities.
The Communication and Marketing Department received the CASE, Circle of Excellence Silver Award for its integrated communication and branding program “Seriously Creative.” A Bronze Award in the category of in-house print publications was presented to UNC Asheville for the Admissions Viewbook.

The Chancellor's List is made up of full-time students who have achieved a 4.0 grade point average. The Dean's List is made up of full-time students who have achieved between 3.5 and 3.99 grade point average.
