The UNC Asheville Board of Trustees will meet from 8:15 a.m.-5 p.m. Friday, Sept. 27, in the Sherrill Center, Mission Health Systems Mountain View Conference Room, on the UNC Asheville campus.
The meeting is open to the public. Portions of the meeting may be closed to the public under the provisions of the North Carolina Open Meetings Act.

The Chancellor's List is made up of full-time students who have achieved a 4.0 grade point average. The Dean's List is made up of full-time students who have achieved between 3.5 and 3.99 grade point average.

UNC Asheville named its fitness area in honor of Samuel Schuman, the university’s third chancellor (1991-1993), in an August 24 ceremony that brought together present and former faculty and staff, Schuman’s family and friends, and even some of his former students.

UNC Asheville’s Ramsey Library will host a reception at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, Aug. 28, to introduce the new exhibition of photos and vintage technology, called “Our Evolving Library.” The reception will provide library patrons and supporters a chance to talk to library staff about future needs and direction of library services.
The “Our Evolving Library” exhibit will include items from the time when UNC Asheville’s early incarnation, Asheville Biltmore College, was housed at Seely’s Castle, and documents the library’s history through the transition into the Internet era.

The Asheville-area gypsy punk band Sirius.B will perform at 8 p.m. on Thursday, Sept. 12 in UNC Asheville's Highsmith University Union Grotto. The concert is free and open to the public.

The UNC Asheville Board of Trustees recently welcomed new members and elected officers. The board is composed of 13 members; eight are appointed by the UNC Board of Governors and four are appointed by the North Carolina governor.

Architect Vladimir Belogolovsky, founder of New York-based Intercontinental Curatorial Project, will present a talk, "Colombia Transformed, Architecture = Politics," at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday, Aug. 22 in UNC Asheville's Laurel Forum, Karpen Hall. The event is free and open to the public.

UNC Asheville will welcome some 600 freshmen to campus on Friday, August 16, when the residence halls open to new students and the university holds its annual Convocation ceremony. UNC Asheville enrolled 553 first-year students last fall, and 540 in the fall of 2011.
