Applied Research

Located in the mountains of Western North Carolina, UNC Asheville’s NEMAC is well situated in this diverse environment to address critical issues that face environmental scientists and researchers.

Integrating elevation, hydrology and weather observations to create multi-dimensional visualizations.

State of the art projection technologies and communication network in the heart of WNC provide the infrastructure needed to move and process massive amounts of environmental data.

Leveraging the resources and talents of Government, Education, Non-Profit and Private Industry allows for projects that promote economic development, advance public education, and address regional and national issues.

Together these groups provide the scientific, computer and statistical expertise to prepare and analyze disparate databases, such as historical climate data and remotely sensed data.

Undergraduate Research is a critical component of NEMAC’s core. Students have the unique opportunity to work and study on projects creating real world solutions addressing regional and national issues.
