STUDENT Opportunities

NEMAC can…

  • Provide an opportunity to gain research experience that will allow you to “test the research/graduate school waters” as well as give your resume an added boost.

  • Provide an in-depth education beyond the classroom.

  • Pay $10 per hour for research associated with your approved research proposal.

  • Provide information on available funded research projects and link students with research advisors.

  • Provide contacts with collaborators outside of UNCA with whom you can network for future employment and/or graduate school opportunities.

FACULTY Opportunities

NEMAC can:

  • Provide the infrastructure from which to submit your research proposal.



  • Help create collaborations within the UNC system, with other academic institutions outside the UNC system, with the private sector, and with state and federal government organizations and laboratories.

  • Handle research proposal preparation including: boilerplate, budgets, editing, and submission.

  • Manage the research project after it is funded: reporting, metrics, agency liaison, and program oversight.

  • Open up research and funding opportunities for establishing summer support.

  • Provide a resource to find capable student researchers and pay them $10 per hour.
* These activities and services do not relieve UNCA faculty and staff from following established proposal submittal and award management policies through the UNCA Office of Sponsored Scholarship and Programs, and Controller's Office.
