The North Carolina Center for Health &
Wellness is currently focusing on the promotion of healthy living in three
groups: children, workers, and older adults. At the present time, we
are developing signature programs in each of these priority areas.
The North Carolina Center for Health &
Wellness, in collaboration with
the Office of Academic Affairs and the Office of Human Resources, is proud
to host UNC Asheville's
Workplace Wellness Program.
Kicking off in the fall semester of 2007, the program has already made
significant progress on its initial goals:
• Committee members learned about
best practices in workplace wellness;
• The campus community was surveyed
about needs and wants, and informed of new programs and services;
• Partnerships were established with
Mission Hospitals, Downtown on the Move, and UNC-Chapel Hill's Way to
Health II program;
• A plan for earning recognition as a
model workplace wellness program was established.
The University of North
Carolina at Asheville is committed to the development of a model workplace
wellness program. To that end, we have established the Workplace Wellness
Committee to help faculty and staff achieve a lifestyle that includes
healthy eating, physical activity, tobacco cessation and stress management.
