June 14 - 18, 2008       Mechatronics Engineering Workshop I
This workshop has been canceled.
July 14 - 18, 2008       Mechatronics Engineering Workshop II
Build and program a SumoBot, and modify it for combat in a tournament finale!
Day Workshop on UNC Asheville campus, 9 a.m. - 4 p.m.
Cost: $395 (includes cost of SumoBot, manual, instruction, T-shirt, lunch)
Deadline for Registration and non-refundable deposit: June 1
If applying for Partial Scholarship, application must be received by May 16, notification of award by May 19
Scholarships are need-based and preference is for under-represented ethnic and gender groups.
Late registration continues as space allows.

SCIENCE OLYMPIAD
The Science Olympiad program promotes science education and awareness in students Grades 6-12.
Wow, is it FUN!!
In Western NC, the event takes place on the UNCA campus in mid-spring.
Overall winners progress to the state-level competition.
Science Olympiad teams compete in a wide range of science events.
Teams benefit from coaching and practice-testing prior to the event.
Parental involvement is a great way to encourage your child in the areas of science and math.

ODYSSEY OF THE MIND
Wonderful K-12 program to encourage creative problem solving, self-expression, teamwork and friendly competition.
Teams form in local schools in the fall and compete in regional competition in early Spring.
Problem topics range from poetry and literature through science and engineering.
Coaching is a great way to get involved.

MATHCOUNTS is a coaching and competition program for Middle School students nationwide.
