College for Seniors Subcommittees
Much of the work of CFS committee is assigned to its seven sub-committees:
Class Representatives Sub-committee
Jack Burtle, Chair
The Class Representatives Committee encourages CFS members to
get involved by becoming class representatives (reps), attempts
to match class rep volunteers with class rep opportunities,
provides class rep training, and seeks to assure that class reps
support the faculty, staff, and membership of the CFS. Meetings
are held shortly before each term begins and as needed.
Curriculum Subcommittee
Don Martin, Chair
The mission of the Curriculum Subcommittee of the College for
Seniors (CFS) is to plan, develop, implement and evaluate the
curriculum of CFS. The committee typically has 12 to16 members
and meets monthly.
Faculty Appreciation Subcommittee
Ginny Brittain & Penny Nichols, Co-chairs
The Faculty Appreciation Subcommittee consists of a group of
NCCCR members dedicated to honoring the CFS faculty each term.
On Faculty Appreciation Day, there is a party for our teachers,
their guests, and all other Center members who wish to attend.
Faculty Development Subcommittee
Ahmad Amara, Chair
The Faculty Development Subcommittee provides action programs
that enhance CFS faculty teaching abilities in collaboration
with other committees. Also, members provide support and/ or
solutions to instructional problems (individually or
collectively).
New Member Orientation Subcommittee
Marian Haines, Chair
The New Member Orientation Subcommittee welcomes new members to
the College for Seniors program. Our purpose is to make members
aware of all the programs and volunteer opportunities available
in the Center.
Research and Development Subcommittee
John Field, Chair
The Research and Development Subcommittee looks at the needs of
the CFS staff and committees for statistics and data and
determines how best to meet those needs by developing
measurement tools. The committee recruits volunteers to help
implement data gathering, input and reporting.
Studio Masters Series Subcommittee
Carole Roskind and Dottie Davis, co-chairs
This subcommittee designs and coordinates intensive learning
experiences for those with intermediate to advanced skills who
have mastered their art form to some degree. It is a unique
opportunity to study one-on-one and in small enrollment courses
and workshops with accomplished master teachers, celebrated and
recognized in their disciplines.
Small Group Learning Subcommittee
Perien Gray, Chair
The Small Group Learning
Subcommittee exists to develop, provide leadership for, and
promote small group learning experiences throughout NCCCR. Its
members offer learning circles and seminars through CFS, conduct
Educational Leadership Training, and provide experienced
