NCCCR PERFORMANCE GROUPS

 

The North Carolina Center for Creative retirement is privileged to include many fine dances, singers and musicians among its members.  They have formed groups which give performances in the community and at NCCCR events. They help to 'put a face' to NCCCR throughout Western North Carolina.

The NCCCR Performance Groups are:


NCCCR MOUNTAIN SMOOTH DANCERS

NCCCR Mountain Smooth Dancers 2005


We perform traditional mountain smooth square dancing, the oldest dance of our Mountains. The team was formed as a result of the interest in College for Seniors course. The group is dedicated to keeping this dance alive in our Mountains. We perform at Festivals in Western North Carolina ( including—Shindig-on-the-Green, Mountain Dance and Folk Festival, Smoky Mountain Festival, Hendersonville Street Dance, Waynesville Street Dance, Biltmore Estate Harvest Festival, NC Mountain State Fair, NC State Fair, Sourwood Festival). We also perform at local schools and nursing homes.

COME AND SING WITH

THE REUTER CENTER SINGERS

  Practices on Mondays 6:15 to 8:15 pm,  Reuter Center on the UNCA campus

 

2008-2009 Fall Season

Fall Season practices will commence Monday, September 8, 2008 at 6:15 PM in the Chestnut Ridge Room at the Reuter Center. The major choral work for the Fall will be Mozart's Requiem which will be performed with the UNCA University Chorus, under the direction of Dr. Melodie Galloway, in UNCA's Lipinsky Hall on Sunday, November 16th.

 

Performs regularly at Biltmore House,

Deerfield and Givens retirement centers,

The Reuter Center, and other venues

 

This is a non-audition, inter-generational, community chorus that provides an opportunity for choral music learning and community choral performances.

ROSEN'S RASCALS


Rosen’s Rascals is a select group of tap and soft shoe dancers. The 15-member group practices regularly and performs at area nursing homes, senior groups, and church groups. The Rascals also perform for events at the Reuter Center and for special events in and around Asheville. The group is named after former long-time instructor Dorothy Rosen.
