Guidelines for Involving NCCCR in Community Service
Projects
Requests to involve NCCCR members in a community service project are
evaluated by the Community Outreach Committee of the Center's governance
group, the Center Steering Council. Projects should take advantage
of the unique qualities, experiences and expertise of Center
participants and should include some or all of the following
criteria:
>Benefits the community
>Benefits UNCA
>May involve UNCA students as well as NCCCR members
>Provides an opportunity for continued learning
>Includes training and orientation as appropriate
>Is conducted as a partnership with NCCCR
>May broaden ethnic, racial, intergenerational, and religious
understanding
>May involve outreach to low-income and underserved populations
Projects should not duplicate those better accomplished by other
community volunteer organizations.
Please provide a letter of no more than three pages with the
following information:
1) Name, address and other contact information for
organization and contact person.
2) Your organization's mission and the purpose or goals of this
volunteer service project.
3) Project budget, and current and future project funding
sources (if applicable)
4) Length of project, number of volunteers needed, time
commitments, availability of training, and provision for ongoing
volunteer supervision.
5) How you see this project corresponding to NCCCR's project
goals (as listed above).
6) How the project will be evaluated to determine successful
contribution of volunteers.
