Explore the Art, Architecture &
Ambiance of Asheville
Downtown Asheville is a fascinating mix of people, galleries,
architecture and eateries. We’ll start with coffee and muffins at
one of our eclectic coffee shops. Then we’ll do some browsing (and
shopping) at an emporium selling locally made arts and crafts in a
recently restored 1920’s building. We’ll visit the newly renovated
Grove Arcade (in 1927 it was the first indoor shopping mall) and
we’ll stop at a fabulous art gallery displaying some of our local
talent. As we stroll, we’ll discuss the wonderful Art Deco buildings
we pass and learn about some of Asheville’s early history along part
of the Urban Trail. We’ll conclude with lunch at one of Asheville’s
fun restaurants. Food is “dutch treat.”
