Dan Lazar
Biography
Dan Lazar served for many years as
director of education and manager at the
Western North Carolina Nature Center, followed by several years as executive
director of the Colburn Earth Science Museum. He holds a degree in forest
biology from the State University of New York College of Environmental Science
and Forestry at Syracuse. As a graduate student at North Carolina State
University, Dan investigated Eastern Hemlock seedling establishment in the Great
Smoky Mountains National Park. Dan is a self-employed writer and lives with his
wife, Joanne, in Craven Gap, adjacent to the Blue Ridge Parkway, where he keeps
a watchful eye on several hundred thousand acres of his favorite trees.
