Course Description:  The UNCA Chamber Symphony provides orchestral experience for all string players at UNCA.  The ensemble allows students, through rehearsal and public performance, to explore music from various eras. This course provides insight into the music from historic, cultural, conceptual, and aesthetic perspectives.

Grading, Policy, Attendance & Other Requirements:  Orchestra members earn one hour of academic credit for their participation.  Grades will be based on attendance and compliance with the schedule of events and performances set by the ensemble members and coach.  There are no written exams.

Grading:  You will be allowed one unexcused absence. For each absence after that your final grade will be lowered by 5%.

Tardy to Rehearsal:  Arriving late to the rehearsal will not be tolerated.  Two unexcused tardies will count the same as one unexcused absence.

Absence from a dress rehearsal or concert will result in a grade of F for the semester.

Excused Absences or Tardies:  Any absence from a rehearsal (or tardy) must be cleared in advance with the ensemble director.

1. Contact the director in person in advance. 251-6489 office.

As a last resort leave a message on the answering machine (251-6489) or e-mail the director at: kirby@unca.edu
