Admission to the University of North Carolina at Asheville Master
of Liberal Arts Program is based upon the applicant's possession of a
baccalaureate degree or its equivalent in any field and demonstrated
interest in pursuing advanced study in the liberal arts. Regular Degree Seeking Applicants The application form , $50 application fee, and all supporting application materials (essay, three letters of recommendation, transcripts) should be sent to the UNCA Admissions Office, CPO 2210, One University Heights, Asheville, NC 28804-8510. All applicants for admission as MLA degree candidates must submit: In addition to these requirements, each applicant will also be interviewed on campus by members of the Graduate Council. Candidates for admission may submit their scores from the Graduate Record Examination or other standardized tests, but that is not required. The Graduate Council reviews completed applications at its monthly meetings. Deadlines for all materials to be in the MLA office for Spring 2009 admission is December 1, 2008. Late applications may be given consideration as space allows. Incomplete files will be held over until the following semester. All applicants will be informed by mail from the Program Director of their admission status as soon as possible after all of their credentials have been reviewed. The notice of admission may include mention of any academic condition under which a student is offered admission. Unless otherwise indicated, failure to meet those conditions will result in the student's dismissal. Graduate Special (Non-Degree Seeking) Applicants The Graduate Special Non-Degree Seeking Student application can be found in the Forms section. The application and supporting materials should be sent to the UNCA Admissions Office, CPO 2210, One University Heights, Asheville, NC 28804-8510. All applicants for admission as MLA Graduate Special candidates must submit: A Graduate Special Student who misses a semester of classes will have to re-apply, using the same form, and be approved before taking further classes. The application fee of $50.00 must be paid again. |
