UNCA Management Endowment Scholarship
Why this scholarship was established
The UNCA Management Endowment Scholarship was established in June
1978 under the direction of Mr. Harry Clarke (president of Western
Carolina Industries), for the explicit purpose of supporting the
instructional programs in the Department of Management and
Accountancy. The initial gift that provided a significant base for
this endowment was from the Charles D. Owen Manufacturing Company.
Other major contributors were the Broad River Processing Company,
Taylor Instrument Company, Norton Company and First Citizens Bank
and Trust Company.
The award is based on demonstrated academic merit.
Criteria for award
Applications are submitted to the Department of Management and
Accountancy prior to February 15 of the preceding academic year. The
scholarship is non-renewable. Selection is based upon the following
criteria:
-
Declare major in accounting, industrial engineering management,
or management
-
Demonstrate academic excellence
Selection Process
A department selection committee will recommend a candidate for the
award to the full department faculty. The department chair will make
the final decision on awarding the scholarship.

The award will be announced during the Department of Management and
Accountancy Annual Awards gathering prior to the end of the Spring
Semester.
