Why
This Scholarship was Established:
The
Johanna Lane Bushy Scholarship in Health Care Administration was
established in January 1977. It was donated by former President of
Asheville Biltmore College, Dr. Glenn Bushy, who now resides in
Chattanooga Tennessee. The scholarship is given in recognition of
the medical professionals who have helped Mrs. Bushy through a long
illness. It is designed to be awarded to a major in Management with
an emphasis in health care administration or related health care
field. The student needs to demonstrate academic merit and financial
need and be at least 21 years of age. Commuter students are
preferred.
Criteria for Award:
Applications are submitted to the Department of Management and
Accountancy prior to April 15 of the preceding academic year.
Selection is based upon the following criteria:

Declare major
in Management with either a Health Care or individualized
concentration in a health care related area

Have acquired
Junior status
-
Demonstrate
academic merit
-
Demonstrate
financial need
-
Be 21 years of
age or over
-
Preference
given to a commuter student
Selection Process:
A
department selection committee will recommend a candidate for the
award to the full department faculty. The name of the candidate for
the scholarship will then be forwarded to the Office of Financial
Aid by the Chair of the Management and Accountancy Department. The
Office of Financial Aid will make the final decision on awarding the
scholarship.
Award
Announcement:
The
award will be announced during the Department of Management and
Accountancy Annual Awards gathering prior to the end of the Spring
Semester.
