C.P.A. Mrs. Mayes is a member of American Institute of Certified
Public Accountants (AICPA), Tax Division of the AICPA, belongs to
the North Carolina Association of CPAs. Mrs. Mayes was awarded the
2007-2008 Distinguished Teaching Award for the Social Sciences. She
has published in areas specifically related to course objectives in
peer reviewed journals such as CPA Journal and
Journal of Financial Planning. She teaches courses in
Accounting Principles and Income Taxation of Individuals. Research
Interests: individual income taxation, tax planning for college
financial aid, elder care, and other related financial and tax
issues.
