North Carolina Standard Course of Study

Usually, a list of standards of what math to study in each grade is a dry heap of paper. If that is all that were there, the North Carolina Standard Course of Study would be a downloadable heap of dull lists. However, unlike most official documents, the NC Standards has sample activities with each aspect of the curriculum. A teacher implementing the standards is not left high and dry, but given a starting point for creative interaction with the material. On the left bar of this web site, you will find access to Elementary (K-5), Middle (6-8) and Secondary (9-12) Grade materials. If you are willing to download the documents you will find a complete, grade-by-grade list of topics to master and sample activies to teach and reinforce these ideas. Designed as resource for teachers, it is also useful for parents to make sure they are on the same page as their child's teacher and for older students to learn new material themselves.
