POSITION TITLE: STUDENT EQUIPMENT SUPERVISOR

Starting Pay Rate: $6.50

Position Description: Part-time (No more than10 hours per week) with responsibilities in assisting the Assistant Director with UNCA OUTDOORS equipment control and care. 

General Responsibilities:
  • Enforces Rules and Regulations of UNCA OUTDOORS among Office Staff, Trip Staff, and Cycle Shop Mechanics.
  • Help with training and orientation of new UNCA OUTDOORS Office Staff and Trip Staff with equipment related topics.
  • Responsible for enforcing all equipment rental, maintenance, and repair policies.
  • Teach other employees the proper maintenance techniques, rental procedures, and inventory procedures.
  • Keep monthly statistics of all rental equipment.
  • Ensure that all equipment rental operations run smoothly and are well organized.
  • Market the Equipment Rental Program to the UNCA Campus Community.

Specific Responsibilities

Weekly

  • Make sure equipment for upcoming trips is reserved and in the proper state of repair.
  • Enforce rules and policies of Equipment Check Out and Use among Trip Staff. Including follow-ups with those who have outstanding late equipment or equipment rental fees.
  • Make sure trip equipment coming back from trips is in good condition, and notify equipment supervisor of necessary repairs.
  • Ensure that all equipment rented is checked out and returned in the same condition.
  • Ensure that all equipment that is rented is done so in accordance with the equipment rental policies and procedures and ensure that all staff follows these exactly.
Monthly
  • Complete the Supervisor Report.
  • Attend Program Supervisors Meeting, and be prepared to share contents of Supervisors Report.
  • Condense monthly equipment rental statistics (number and gender of participants, etc. etc.) and enter them into a spreadsheet, and Report to Assistant Director via Monthly Report.
  • Meet with the Assistant Director and Inform them of any equipment related issues.
  • Make additions where necessary to the Office Manual and the Trip Leader Manual, to ensure that all policies and procedures are kept up to date.
  • Supervise and coordinate equipment inventory noting all newly damaged or missing equipment, and follow up to ensure that equipment is repaired, returned, or replaced.
Semester
  • Create a comprehensive marketing plan for the equipment rental program, and see that this plan is being implemented. As well as keeping the Assistant Director informed of the different aspects of the plan.
  • Report any missing/lost equipment and provide assistant director with suggestions for replacing lost/damaged equipment.
  • Hold training with first year staff to discuss the equipment rental policies and also the trip equipment sign out procedure to sure that all trip staff understands the importance of following these policies closely.
Yearly
  • Advise Assistant Director of any new equipment or resources that are needed for the equipment rental program.
  • Establish clear and measurable goals for the Equipment Rental Program.
  • Evaluate the accomplishment of Equipment Rental Program Yearly Goals.
