A Humanities Minor at UNCA requires the following:

  1. Declaration of intent prior to receiving 75 credit hours.

  2. 19 hours of courses in the Humanities, including Humanities 324

  3. 15 additional hours of coursework, excluding courses in the major or other ILS requirements, must be approved by the Program Director.

  4. Courses must be chosen from more than one department; must include at least 3 hours at the 300-400 level; must pursue a coherent theme or reflect a specific area of interest.

Why Acquire a Minor in Humanities

UNCA is increasingly gathering national recognition for the excellence and affordability of its academic preparation and, hence, Humanities requirement.  A minor in humanities will give you an opportunity to study a particular topic from the perspective of several disciplines.  You will find yourself challenged as you broaden your knowledge.
