AP and FSP Certificate Programs

UNC Asheville has developed several certification programs to encourage employees to develop core competencies and meet professional goals.  To receive certification as an Administrative Professional or Frontline Service Professional, plan to complete at least 8 eligible professional development courses.  For employees in the Administrative Professional track, look for the “AP” symbol following the course title.  Employees in the Frontline Service Professional Track should look for “FSP.”  For additional information about these programs, or to request a brochure, please contact the Professional Development Team at 250-2343.

Shots Fired: When Lightning Strikes

"Shots Fired!" is the last thing you'd expect to hear in a workplace or university. Unfortunately, this violent event has become a reality in our workplaces and schools.  While anyone can become a victim of workplace violence, injury or death does not have to become the inevitable outcome.  This workshop will raise awareness of the desired mindset and tools that can enable you to act with purpose to avoid terrible outcomes.

The recent economic downturn has put pressure on governmental, organizational and household budgets.  With stagnant wages and ever increasing demands on our wallets, it can be easy to find ourselves in financial difficulties. Believe it or not, there are techniques you can utilize to help weather the economic storm while maintaining your financial health.

Performance Management Overview

All supervisors should complete Performance Appraisals and conduct performance review meetings with all SPA employees by the end of April.  The performance review meeting is an opportunity for supervisors and employees to evaluate the degree of each employee’s success in achieving goals and meeting expectations.  Supervisors and non supervisors should plan now to attend an upcoming Performance Management Overview workshop to learn about this important program and the related procedures.
