Temporary Employment Process

Vice Chancellor & Division/Department Procedures:

  • All requests for temporary employment must be approved by Division Vice Chancellor.
  • Department conducts search for temporary employee(s), in conjunction with Human Resources.
  • Department selects temporary candidate and submits a temporary wage authorization form signed by V.C. and all hiring supervisors (department/division head, etc), to Human Resources. (see form:  http://www.unca.edu/hr/forms/employment/hiring/tempwage.pdf)
  • Temporary candidate completes Application and Authorization and Consent for Release of Information forms, and submits to Human Resources.
  • Human Resources will conduct the background check and, upon successful results, will notify the department that employee may begin work.
  • All new employees must come to Human Resources for I-9 and BASIC verification on or before their first day of employment.
  • Immediately following verification in Human Resources, all new employees must complete W-4 and NC-4 in Human Resources.
