NCFlex Program
NCFlex
is a program of pre-tax benefit plans available for state agency and university
employees.
NCFlex
offers the following plans:
All
NCFlex plan benefits operate on a calendar year basis, January 1 through
December 31.
The
NCFlex Program annual enrollment period is mid-October to early November. The benefit
elections you make will be effective on January 1 the following year. You should
review your enrollment materials before the enrollment period so you can make an
informed decision about which
benefits you want to participate in during the next calendar year.
Each year, you can choose to participate in any or all of the NCFlex benefits.
However, once you've decided to participate, you cannot change or cancel that
decision during the year unless you have a change in family or employment
status.
Eligibility
and Effective Date
You
are eligible to participate if you are working 20 or more hours per week in a
permanent, probationary, or time-limited position. If you are a newly hired
employee, you must enroll within 30 days of your employment date, and your
participation begins the first day of the month after you sign your enrollment
form. Claims for services rendered prior to the effective date of coverage will
not be paid.
If
you do not enroll in NCFlex benefits in the first 30 days of employment, you are
eligible to enroll during annual enrollment period. However, you may be subject
to waiting periods for coverage and/or you may have to provide evidence of
insurability and coverage may be denied in some cases. Please refer to your
NCFlex Enrollment Guide or the NCFlex website at
www.ncflex.org for details.
If you have a change in family or
employment status, contact the Benefits Representative within 30 days of the
event for information about making changes to your benefits.
