Dental Plan
A
voluntary pre-tax dental plan is offered as part of NCFlex. Employees pay the
full cost of coverage for themselves and dependents. Under the program, there are managed and
traditional care options. Managed care participants have a network of
dentists/specialists who have agreed to discount their services. Traditional
care participants have their choice of dentists/specialists. Under this plan,
services are reimbursed on a pro-rated basis with a calendar year
deductible.
NCFlex
offers three options:
Pre-Tax
Dental Plan
Your
premiums are deducted on a pre-tax basis if you select either the High Option or
the Low
Option Dental Plan. What this means is that the options give you the advantage
of comprehensive dental coverage at a discounted cost compared with an after-tax
plan.

Coordination
with the Health Care Flexible Spending Account (HCFSA)
A
third option is you can set aside money from your pay on a pre-tax basis for
out-of-pocket dental expenses under the HCFSA, whether you select dental coverage
or not. You can be reimbursed for dental expenses not covered by a health plan.
The dental expenses can be for you, your spouse, or dependent children. The date
you or your covered dependents received service (incurred expenses) must be during
the plan year. To participate, you must enroll in the Health Care Flexible
Spending Account each year.
Changing
Dental Plan Options
Under
no circumstances will a participant be permitted to change dental plan options
during the plan year. For example, Low Option to High Option or High Option to
Low Option. A participant may change options during the annual enrollment period
with an effective date of January 1; however waiting periods may apply.
