Live
and Lead Campus Community
The Live and Lead
program at UNC Asheville provides a unique opportunity
to students working, living, learning and leading on
campus over the summer months. The purpose of the
program is to create a living and learning community for
selected students who will be working in areas of the
Division of Student Affairs and have a desire to discuss
and share their experiences with other students. Members
of the Live and Lead program will participate in
programs and activities that allow them to develop as
professionals, create positive social constructs, and
develop leadership skills.
This program
runs May 26 - August 7th however participants can move
in as early at May 18. The cost for the program is $250
which includes on campus housing for the duration of the
program.
Participants will learn skills that will help…

Define personal values (leadership skill)

Identify important networking skills for career
advancement (professionalism)

Understand the basic ingredients of becoming a
professional (professionalism)

Create successful collaborations with community members
by understanding group dynamics (leadership)

Understand their communication style and improve their
interpersonal skills (leadership)

Belong to the campus community over the summer months
(positive social constructs)

Work hard, have fun, and learn with others (positive
social constructs)
Criteria
for Student Participants
-
Have been a student at UNC Asheville since at least the
Spring 2009 semester
-
Enrolled in classes for Fall 2009 semester
-
Lived in UNC Asheville Residence Hall for at least one
semester
-
In good academic standing with at least a 2.0 GPA
-
In good behavioral standing with no conduct violations
-
Work at least 25 summer hours per week within the
Student Affairs Division sponsoring your application
-
Be interested in participating in the Living and
Learning community focused on Leadership
-
Attend at least eight core programs and four optional
programs during the Summer Session, including opening
and closing events
