Resident Assistants

One of the most helpful and resourceful people you will interact with at UNC Asheville is your Resident Assistant, whose overall responsibility is to provide leadership, assistance, and support to you and the other members of your floor or building.  These individuals have been selected for their leadership potential, interpersonal skills, positive attitude, maturity, scholarship, and sense of commitment.  RAs are your primary resource for information and assistance with any type of concern.  Their major responsibilities are:

  1. knowing each person on their floor or hall,

  2. familiarizing students with and helping them interpret residence hall and university rules and regulations,

  3. assisting with the enforcement of these rules and regulations,

  4. helping residents maintain an environment for learning,

  5. acting as a liaison between resident students and the staff,

  6. facilitating student-to-student and student-to-staff interaction, and

  7. assisting the development of educational and social programs.

Our Resident Assistants undergo a very rigorous two-week training before the opening of school.
