H-INTENSIVE COURSES
One
H-Intensive course much be completed before beginning the senior thesis sequence
(HIST 390 and HIST 452). In exceptional cases, students may complete an
H-Intensive course concurrently with the HIST 390 course. H-Intensive
courses will help students to develop research and writing skills that are key
to a history major’s success. Various disciplines employ different research and
writing methods, therefore these courses will be most helpful for preparing
history majors for the history senior thesis sequence. These classes will
follow the process of researching, drafting, and revising a major research
paper. In addition to the components of the research paper, students in these
classes will practice writing in several different forms, such as take-home
examinations, smaller research or analytical essays, or research journals.
Students in these classes will also explore the historiography of the subject
during the course of the semester. Future and past H-Intensive courses
