TOP Crew

Nick Balldelli, Manager

Hometown: Miami, FL
Senior
Major: Financial Accounting

I have worked for TOP for the past year and a half as the call center manager. The role of manager is doing so much for my professional career and my personal growth. I enjoy working here because I feel like I am able to help give back to the University. Talking with parents and alumni gives me an insight into who really makes up UNC Asheville, and what it is they value about our institution.

I am motivated by our goal to secure $100,000 in gifts to help with scholarships and programs that are most important to students. Last year we came very close to reaching that goal and I know it is obtainable this year. I also have goals for the individual callers that require applying what I am learning in my accounting and management courses. My position helps me better understand learning objectives in academics while also developping professional skills.

Brittany Curtis, Assistant Manager, On-Site Trainer, Data-Entry Specialist

Hometown: Brevard, NC
Junior
Major: Management

I have been involved with TOP since September of last year. I have worked as a student caller and as a data entry assistant. Working as an assistant manager is a great opportunity that allows me to consider the topics covered by my Management degree while I am at work. Like Nick, I am hopeful that we can reach the goal of $100,000 in gifts to support the University. This program has a lot of great student power behind it, and I am confident in our callers' abilities to grow over the next coming semesters.

Meet several of our TOP callers and learn why they enjoy working for TOP:

I really believe in the education UNC Asheville offers and by working for the Telephone Outreach Program I am able to really help the school and see my work pay off. Rebecca Ward

Major: Spanish, Minor: New Media

I have always been interested in making my school a better place, and I know that gifts to our Chancellor's Excellence Fund and Parent's Fund help every little bit in improving the quality of my education as well as the education of others. I love to speak with alumni and find out where they are in life, long after graduation. I work with a great group of people that all want to make UNC Asheville a better place!

I had heard about the job through a friend, and thought it would be more interesting than a lot of the other job's posted on the school's website, ( I knew I wanted to work on campus). I like talking to people, so I thought that I would enjoy the work!

I like to interact with the previous alumni, especially those who graduated with a psychology major. The tips that they give have been super useful. So has their advice on which Professors I should take.

I took the job because I wanted to help the University. Having an affordable option like UNC Asheville is the only reason I'm able to go to school, so I want to help ensure that it remains a possibility for future students.

Being a part of the TOP is a really cool experience because it is a really important part of the University that people don't always recognize. Student-caller involvement shows how much students care about the school.
