Karla McKorkle Worley ’97 IRA gift

Your IRA is one of the most tax-burdened assets you own, so Karla McKorkle Worley, ‘97 found a way to ease the looming tax burden on her family by assigning a percentage of her IRA to UNC Asheville Foundation. This gift will provide funding for the Environmental Sciences program and other areas. Karla graduated with an Environmental Sciences degree.

“My husband and I feel strongly about providing the highest level of education to others, and we’re grateful for the education we received. We should all pay it forward—that’s our mantra. My children will also know how important this was for me, because when I die, a portion of my IRA will go to UNC Asheville outright,” she said.
