Jennifer Mayer’s $25,000 gift

Charlotte Street Computer owner Jennifer Mayer, ’05, is gifting the University with $25,000 to fund campus computer labs. She is leveraging her gift to feed her passion—helping inner city kids have access to computers.

Jennifer donates computers to local community centers so that children who don’t have computers can keep up with homework and get comfortable with computers.

“This gift helps me get attention to create an ongoing student internship program with Buncombe County Housing Authority for after-school tutoring,” she explained. “It opens doors to help me fund things I’m passionate about, so I can make a difference.”

She also appreciates the name recognition the gift brings, noting that it’s really marketing dollars she’s spending.
