General Education Review Committee
Meeting, 11 October 2000
KH 113, 4:45-5:45
Minutes
1. Joseph Wilde-Ramsing (Political Science and Foreign Languages), our new student committee member, introduced himself.
2. The committee discussed whether we need to invite anyone from APC to one of our meetings in order to clarify further the work that they are doing in the general education review. It was felt that this was unnecessary as there are members of APC on our committee, who can fill us in on details of the review as needed.
3. We had a lively discussion of the draft of the Mission Statement and made several revisions. Katz will incorporate the revisions, most or all of which pertain to the second paragraph, into the present draft and will send it to committee members in an email attachment. At our next meeting, we will continue working on the revision of the mission statement and, if time permits, we will begin working on the draft of the goals. When we finish drafting these documents to our satisfaction, we will put them on our website to solicit faculty reaction and input.
4. Next full GERC meeting: Wed., 10/25, 4:45-5:45, kh 113. Other meetings are scheduled for 11/8, 11/29 (skipping a week for Thanksgiving Break), and 12/6.
