Applicants Selected for Verification
When verification is required for an application, that application is said to have been "selected" for verification.Applications for verification may be selected by either one of the following methods:
- An applicant selected by the FAFSA Processor based on edits.
- All applicants who are eligible for the Pell Grant.
- An applicant who UNC Asheville has reason to believe contains inaccurate information. If selected by this institution, the student is subject to all the rules and requirements of verification.
The verification procedures are governed by the Higher Education Act of 1965, as amended, and Subpart E of 34 CFR Part 668 "Verification of Student Aid Applicant Information Regulations", published in Federal Register on April 29, 1994 and November 29, 1994.

In addition to the appropriate Verification Worksheet above, you must also provide the Office of Financial Aid with:
- Signed Tax Return (and your parents Signed Tax Return if you are a dependent)
- W2 (and your parents W2 if you are a dependent)
- Additional items upon request of the Office of Financial Aid
