To apply for any of the grants below, please fill out the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). This is the only application you need to complete for financial aid at UNC Asheville.

Type:  Escheats Grant

Forms:  FAFSA

Priority Deadline: March 1

Who Awards the Funds: UNC Asheville

Annual Maximum Amount: Up to $350

Need Based and Requires FAFSA: Yes

Additional Award Criteria: Maintain Satisfactory Academic Progress

Minimum Credit Hours
For Disbursement per Term: 12

Renewal Criteria: Complete the FAFSA each year

Additional Information: The student must be a North Carolina Resident for tuition purposes


Type:  North Carolina Education Lottery Scholarship

Forms:  FAFSA

Priority Deadline: March 1

Who Awards the Funds: NC State Education Assistance Authority

Annual Maximum Amount: Varies

Need Based and Requires FAFSA: Yes

Additional Award Criteria: Maintain Satisfactory Academic Progress

Minimum Credit Hours
For Disbursement per Term: 12 for the full award, 6-11 for the ½ award

Renewal Criteria: Complete the FAFSA each year

Additional Information: The student must be a North Carolina resident for tuition purposes.  Max. credit hours for eligibility 132 attempted.


Type:  North Carolina Need Base Grant

Forms:  FAFSA

Priority Deadline: March 1

Who Awards the Funds: UNC Asheville office of Financial Aid

Annual Maximum Amount: Up to $500

Need Based and Requires FAFSA: Yes

Additional Award Criteria: Maintain Satisfactory Academic Progress

Minimum Credit Hours
For Disbursement per Term: 12

Renewal Criteria: Complete the FAFSA each year

Additional Information: Institutional grant for undergraduate students with demonstrated financial need.  Term limit may apply in the 2012-2013 shool year.


Type:  North Carolina Tuition Offset Grant

Forms:  FAFSA

Priority Deadline: March 1

Who Awards the Funds: UNC Asheville office of Financial Aid

Annual Maximum Amount: Up to $1,000

Need Based and Requires FAFSA: Yes

Additional Award Criteria: Maintain Satisfactory Academic Progress

Minimum Credit Hours
For Disbursement per Term: 12

Renewal Criteria: Complete the FAFSA each year

Additional Information: Institutional grant given to those with demonstrated financial aid to help with the rising tuition costs each year


Type:  University of North Carolina Need Base Grant

Annual Maximum Amount: Varies

Need Based and Requires FAFSA: Yes

Additional Award Criteria: Maintain Satisfactory Academic Progress
